Liz Truss, launched the inaugural episode of her video series with a promise to reveal "malicious actors" working to undermine Western democracies. Truss elaborated she would reveal how an "worldwide alliance of liberal activists work to subvert popular rule and the public's choice."

"Our focus will be on the Trump revolution and understand how it can be achieved in Britain," she said. "Our guests will include the leading lights of the Maga movement."

In advance of the series premiere, there was a notably ardent backer. "This represents the dawn of a sort of political shift," said John Solomon. His conservative media outlet Just the News will carry the ex-PM's new broadcasts.

Building Connections in the Conservative Media Landscape

Compatriot supporters, including a counselor supportive of Reform, assisted in her set up the Liz Truss Show. The setup is adequate, if basic. She has gathered 10,000 subscribers in her initial seven days and her debut garnered sixty-seven thousand views across the same period.

It is a humble beginning, but in making common cause with the journalist, Truss is being pushed into a well-developed conservative ecosystem producing and amplifying pro-Trump narratives. Central preoccupations involve alleged censorship by the traditional news outlets and a goal to dismantle a shadowy government apparatus – a force that Truss blames for the rapid conclusion of her short and troubled leadership.

"Just the News is not famous outside of the pro-Trump media sphere, but it does have influence there, mostly due to Solomon, who offers opinions on Maga platforms like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even questioned Trump," commented Alex Hinton, who has analyzed the Make America Great Again phenomenon.

A Contentious Ally

Her effort to import the pro-Trump media model to the United Kingdom has aligned her more closely to divisive personalities such as the journalist.

He established the platform in the wake of criticism following accusations of circulating inaccurate reports about the President's actions in the Eastern European nation, as well as disputed reports about ex-ambassador to that country.

His claims were echoed throughout the conservative press, with Solomon serving as a regular guest on the widely-watched Fox News program. The former president personally boosted his stories.

Solomon made the allegations regarding Ukraine in a set of articles for the outlet The Hill, where he was re-designated as an opinion writer after colleagues complained over his articles. His narratives were key in Trump's demand for the Ukrainians to investigate the Bidens in 2019. This pressure resulted in impeachment charges against Trump. The US Senate later voted to acquit the president.

Shortly after the journalist departed the newspaper in late 2019, the outlet announced it was performing a review of his work about Ukrainian matters. It concluded Solomon had cited questionable informants and noted he "failed to identify key facts about primary contacts in Ukraine, specifically the reality that they had been indicted or were being probed."

Becoming Part of the Sphere

Solomon's own media appearances are a sign of the conservative ecosystem Liz Truss is becoming part of. He discussed his support for Truss's project on a broadcast he helps run on Real America's Voice, a conservative television outlet that is where you find the conservative firebrand Steve Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also features. The ex-PM has already hosted Bannon on a debut installment.

By partnering with the journalist and his outlet, the former leader has become a minor player in a broader ecosystem of conservative media outlets that often cross-promote stories.

The journalist's broadcasts have frequently included figures such as Mike Benz, a conservative commentator whose criticism of the foreign aid agency was used by Elon Musk as justification for closing the foreign aid agency.

An International Strategy

Even though Truss's stilted style and professional woes have been mocked in Britain, certain American analysts are not discounting her attempts to revamp her image as a local version of the Maga media.

"You have to take individuals such as her seriously, although you may not want to accept their words at face value," commented Rob Flaherty, who worked in the Biden administration.

"Observers witnessed how in 2024 President Trump utilized that alternative press to disseminate his views. Undoubtedly that sphere exports and influences conversation internationally. It looks quite apparent to me that the conditions in the UK are akin to what allowed this parallel press sphere to flourish in America."

a political theory expert, said the internet-based conservative network was already having an impact in Britain.

"Digital media is borderless," Finlayson remarked. "There is a certain environment within which ideas travel – sometimes manifesting in radical ways and sometimes less so – but which is interlinked."

The academic said the expansion of the online right in the United Kingdom lately meant the "chance to have a growing impact is significant."
