Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
